Result
Objective 1 Increase the capacity of key governmental bodies tasked with promoting gender-responsive approaches to policymaking. Intermediate Result 1.1 Gender advocates, including parliament, government bodies, and CSOs demonstrate increased collaboration to advance gender equality. - NDI engaged two gender equality consultants, legal and communication, to provide support for the Vice Minister's Office on adapting the National Action Plan on Women, Peace and Security to the wartime environment. This includes legislation and policy analysis. It has also led to improved awareness and access to phycho-social, legal and informational help for for IDPs and others impacted by the war. - NDI continued to develop educational programs for civil servants on gender equality. - NDI provided support to the Public Council on Gender to improve coordination among civil society, parliament and the public sector on Women's Political Participation. Another result of this support was increased security for women and girls online. Objective 2 Increase public understanding of the benefits of gender equality at the national level. Intermediate Result 2.1 Ukrainian citizens have increased exposure to gender-responsive messaging. - NDI's support to Regional Press Development Institute, National Council of TV and Radio, and BBC Media Action and Suspline aimed to increase public awareness on the benefits of gender equality as well as what the Istanbul Convention will mean for combating gender-based violence. - The "She Did It" Wikipedia marathon led to that more than 30 editors improved or created 440 encyclopedic articles in order to increase women's representation and gender-sensitive content on the Wikipedia. Objective 3 LGBTQI CSOs promote increased tolerance of LGBTQI people through sustained outreach and advocacy campaigns. - NDI provided financial and technical assistance to five LGBTQI organisations. Intermediate Result 3.1 LGBTQI CSOs form coalitions around shared priorities to advocate for legislative changes and/or corporate policies and practices to support LGBTQI people. - With NDI support, the LGBTQI civil society partners have a joint advocacy platform, with the specific goal of promoting anti-hate crime legislation. The joint effort led to a widespread petition on same-sex marriage, however cannot be approved or take effect under marital law. Intermediate Result 3.2 LGBTQI CSOs broaden support base for LGBTQI inclusion through evidence-based public outreach efforts to combat discrimination toward LGBTQI people. - NDI's partners has contributed to increased knowledge. KyivPride conducted three information sessions for 21 psychologists and social workers on non-discrimination of tolerance of lgtbqi community. LGTB Military conducted an information session on how to communicate with the LGBTQI community. The social media campaign rizni.rivni continued. Intermediate Result 3.3 Improve CSOs ability to sustain efforts combating discrimination toward LGBTQI people. - NDI supported the expansion of the partners administrative and organizational capacities by conducting training sessions and consultations on fund raising, project management, advocacy, countering disinformation and other topics. Objective 4 Gender equality and LGBTQI inclusion movements jointly address intersectional issues. Intermediate Result 4.1 Leaders of the LGBTQI inclusion and the gender equality movements partner to expand their networks. - NDI's partner RPDI (Regional Press Development Institute) published an article on same-sex marriage legislation on its online platform. The article informed about the petition that succeed to get enough signatures to have reached the President's office. It also discussed the role of LGBTQI community in the military as well as brought up the human rights dimension of recognizing same-sex marriage.
