Result
The project is progressing by achieving objective and results, such as: Assessment of the status of energy performance and management of community-owned buildings and systematic knowledge transfer, including delivering trainings for enhancing local capacities and setting up a platform for a consolidated EMS methodology adoption were conducted; The data of energy consumption of community public facilities in all settlements are collected and database is created to enhance local capacities and setting up a platform for a consolidated EMS methodology application; With support of the government 10 PV systems were installed in public buildings with total nominal capacity of around 160 kW; The database of energy consumption of community street lighting is collected in all 28 settlements; The State Subvention Programme, community, residents, UNDP-Sida and UNDP-GCF De-risking and Scaling-up Investment in Energy Efficient Building Retrofits Projects joined funding for the planned works which aimed in selection of 9 residential buildings and including them in State Subvention Programme, from which 2 for full and 7 for partial EE refurbishment. The roofs were repaired and windows and doors were installed. The external walls insulation were completed. Full thermal weatherisation of 2 concrete-panel 9 storey buildings, with a total number of 72 apartments ensured approximately 50% energy saving. Also, One public building prioritized by community (Kindergarten) and, as well as 27 multi apartment residential buildings were identified and selected for energy efficiency rehabilitation; In those 27 MABs, reconstruction of roofs (renewal of roof cladding and supporting timber frame), insulation of attic floors, replacement of doors and windows in the entrances and installation of LED lights, renovation of entrances were considered, as result of which around 8-10% energy saving potential was estimated, reducing the leakage from degraded roof cladding; The construction works in chosen Kindergarten were launched in early August, 2023, where the demolition works and structural reinforcement works have been completed already.
Project overall objective: Enhance the economic, environmental, and social resilience of an urban community in Armenia by developing, piloting and scaling a model for EE and low carbon development that can be replicated in other communities of the country.
