Some examples of the results in 2023 that have been highlighted by ForumCiv: 1. In the Guatemalan context, collaboration with Prensa Comunitaria has resulted in the "Between elections" project, which included a training component in community journalism and elections, culminating in a journalistic manual for future electoral coverage. 2. In relation to the consolidation of the Latin American Network of Civil Society against silence, holding work meetings with various organizations and strategic actors in different Latin American countries has been crucial in order to generate joint actions that improve the conditions for the full exercise of press freedom in the region. 3. The strengthening and updating of the "NINA" resource, the improvement in interface and usability has translated into a valuable tool for crucial research in the region. A concrete testimony of its usefulness is the successful investigation into corruption, such as the emblematic Odebrecht case. The NINA has become an essential resource for journalists and civil society, providing solid ground for demanding rights and accountability. 4. The training of 40 exiled journalists in digital security represents a fundamental milestone in the effort to provide professionals with the necessary tools to protect themselves and operate in challenging digital environments. This approach not only promotes the safety of journalists, but also raises the quality and effectiveness of their work, allowing them to face challenges with greater confidence and determination. 5. The crossborder investigation "Digital Mercenaries" has been a fundamental milestone, where collaboration with more than 20 media and organizations has led to the collective creation of quality information. The transnational "NarcoFiles" investigation is another example of the importance and scope of the activities.
The general objective of the Program Networks against silence: less censorship, better journalism, more democracy, is to Strengthen Latin American civil society organizations and the ecosystem of media and investigative journalists committed to the defense of freedom of expression and against censorship, the agenda of democratic inclusion, the fight against censorship and disinformation, and respect for human rights, through the promotion of regional networking and increased access to tools, resources, technical capabilities and strategic knowledge. To achieve this objective the consortium has established two (2) components, that also translate into the outcomes of the results framework: Outcome 1: Latin American civil society has an effective and positive impact on the expansion of freedom of expression through capacity building for the protection of journalists and the fight against censorship with a regional approach, based on the proven experience of the FLIP model. Outcome 2: Latin America's active citizenry has an ecosystem of investigative media strengthened and committed to the defense of human rights, gender equity and equality, environmental and climate justice and inclusive democracy. In this sense, the expected impact of the program is to contribute to a more equitable Latin American region, respectful of Human Rights and the consolidation of inclusive democracy that protects freedom of expression and promotes an enabling environment for journalism and active civil society, with full inclusion of women in their diversity and marginalized populations.
