Result
Examples of results achieved The results below were presented at a meeting in March 2024 and show examples of results achieved from autumn 2023 and up to February 2024. (Archive 24/00028936). A full results report is expected by the last day of August 2024. Outcome 1: Communities are empowered to bring about positive change in attitudes and behaviours on gender equality • 50 Teachers were trained in PSS, FGM, CFM in Kassala and 20 in White Nile (WN) • 25 Saleema Facilitators were selected to be trained on the Saleema approach in Kassala. • Saleema, 60 facilitators were selected to be trained. • 30 champion of change facilitators were selected, trained and 9 community groups were established in Kassala, 10 in WN • 2 campaigns of Saleema were organized in Kassala and WN. • VSLA & reflect training conducted for 10 facilitators in WN. Outcome 2: Civil society has strengthened capacity to promote gender equality, social accountability and advocacy on gender equality to combat CEFM and FGM. Capacity development plan were developed together with partners based on the assessment and shared with partners. One meeting was organized with 14 CSOs in Kassala for the purpose of reforming the CSO alliance. Lack of coordination needs identified for advocacy for their communities to reduce FGM and CEFM. Visits done in their offices, gaps identified as to detail the capacitybuilding efforts. First official meeting for CSO alliances planned to end of March. Outcome 3: Strengthened government systems and capacities to promote gender equality, prevention and protection from child marriage and FGM/C • OPEG team supported 4 sector coordination meetings in Kassala and 3 meetings in WN • 15 Community base child protection committees were formulated and 4 were trained in Kassala and 3 in White Nile state and they are now functional. They receive different support material. Communities are aware and reach out to them. Outcome 4: Strategic interventions to social norms transformation areidentified/implemented Design & conduct 26 series broadcasted on WN radio and Kassala to disseminate FGM and CEFM amongst target communities. Coordination with MOH concerning code of conduct for midwives in ,Kassala on going Identification of youth and key stakeholders for training advocacy trainings to start April Capacity building • Safeguarding training conducted for partners and Plan staff in Kassala. • Finance management training was conducted for partners in Kassala. White Nile and North Darfur was not possible due to conflict but got financial requirements and information and support in other ways. FM Training planned April • Conflict sensitivity & civic space trainings for Plan and Partners staff in Kassalaand North Darfur (ND). • Conduct Building better partnership training for Plan staff in Kassala, WN and ND • Support to Partners with equipment and furniture is completed in Kassala andlap tops in WN and ND on its way as access is possible.
Overall goal/impact: Vulnerable children and youth in particular girls and young women live in communities free from all forms of violence, traditional harmful practices and gender discrimination, and are able to take decisions on their own lives. Project purpose: Communities, civil society and government structures adopt positive social norms and laws to protect children's rights with a particular focus on tackling FGM and child marriage in Kassala, White Nile, and North Darfur. The project has the following outcomes: Outcome 1: Communities are empowered to bring about positive change in attitudes and behaviours on gender equality. (Outcome 1 focuses on building community capacities to combat FGM/C and CEFM as well as building girls and young womens agency including effective engagement of boys and men to bring about equality and end FGM/C and CEFM.) Outcome 2: Civil society has strengthened capacity to promote gender equality, social accountability and advocacy on gender equality to combat CEFM and FGM. (Outcome 2 aims at strengthening capacities (institutional & technical ) of Civil Society Organisations and supporting alliance building for sustained advocacy at all levels to promote gender equality and end FGM/C and CEFM Outcome 3: Strengthened government systems and capacities to promote gender equality, prevention and protection from child marriage and FGM (CMPIS system and strengthened child protection) There has not been any implementation or capacity building for the government since after the military coup, October, 2021. Outcome 4: Strategic interventions to social norms transformation are identified/ implemented
