Result
The presentation at the embassy on 28 June 2024 provided an overview of activity progress. Some examples of results achieved regarding each of the five objectives are summarized here: Objective 1: Farmer Managed Natural Restoration in 2 locations Taita Taveta 3 Water resource users Associations reactivated (1/each county), and they started restoration for sub-catchments Objective 2: Maungu conservancy selected for pasture production Rooftop rainwater harvesting need assessment for 5 villages in Kasigau conducted. Identification of land to purchase in Narok for the Hay Project. Objective 3: A community based scorecard tool developed (land use, community land management, land degradation and restoration) Public, policy makers and stakeholders engaged through media on key provisions on the Land Control Bill 2023. Objective 4: Baseline survey on CIDP all counties developed and adopted the CIDP Land clinics conducted for Kajiado in implementation of the spatial plan Taita Taveta in process to develop the Spatial plan and public sensitization conducted (Narok and Kajiado have developed theirs). Objective 5: Capacity building for constituency Land Control Boards in Narok and Kajiado (LCB Training) Training curriculum developed, and capacity enhancement conducted for Community Land Management Committees Developed and submitted a memorandum on the Land Law (Amendment) Bill (No 2) 2023.
Objective 1: Restored, enhanced, and protected biodiversity for increased climate resilience in productive and protective landscapes Objective 2: Improved livelihood of communities through biodiversity-based enterprises and developed value chains Objective 3: Strengthened and coordinated community-based knowledge and national monitoring systems for biodiversity conservation Objective 4: Enhanced County capacity for climate change mainstreaming into County biodiversity and environmental policies and plans Objective 5: Enhanced governance of community land to strengthen biodiversity conservation and protections including benefits for rights holders
