Energy Community's Ukraine Energy Support Fund

In the changes to the letter of appropriation UD2023/02951, dated 23 February 2023, the government of Sweden tasked Sida to manage the pledge of MSEK 300 to the Ukraine Energy Support Fund under the administration of the Energy Community Secretariat (EnCS). The needs within the energy sector in Ukraine are immense. The intention of the Swedish financial support is that it will make a direct difference as it will be channeled towards investments and reparation of the country’s energy infrastructure. For more information, see: https://www.regeringen.se/pressmeddelanden/2023/02/regeringen-allokerar-ytterligare-ett-omfattande-stod-om-520-miljoner-till-ukraina/ https://www.esv.se/statsliggaren/regleringsbrev/?rbid=23675 The support will be earmarked for use for the procurement of Necessary Support which is necessary, directly or indirectly, for: • De-centralised renewable energy solutions, including solar panels and associated equipment and services, batteries, microgrids, energy-efficiency measures for including for social services and households; • Electricity transmission and distribution sector; • Repair of energy infrastructure vital from a gender perspective. The financial support shall not be used for: • the purchase of fossil Fuels or Equipment based on the combustion of fossil Fuels. • Capital inflow.
