General question: Results related to the intended outcome 2014Question: Summarise results related to the intended outcome (this information will be sent to Open Aid)Answer: -The use of Umbrella Agreements between UNDP and donors has resulted in greater complimentary and harmonization of programme activities implemented by UNDP. - Efforts during 2013 and the 1st quarter of 2014 of UNDP programmes in the areas of Democratic Governance, Peace Building and Conflict Prevention evolved around supporting the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), relevant independent commissions and civil society in building technical capacity to ensure free, fair and peaceful elections on 4 March 2013, rolling out civic education through the civil society programme AmKeni wa Kenya on voters and civic education and human rights awareness. - The independent evaluation of the support to Electoral Reforms and Processes showed that the project helped the IEBC to deliver peaceful, free and fair elections. - Support to the independent commissions (CIC, KNCHR, NGEC, CAJ) which act as oversight bodies in the implementation of the constitution was significant in facilitating them to deliver on their respective mandates. - Support to the Commission of the Implementation of the Constitution (CIC) focused on ensuring that CIC had the capacity to deliver its mandate, and by extension contributing to the realization of rule of law in Kenya. - Amkeni waKenya civil society programme continued to roll out citizen’s awareness and realization of rights under the new Constitution. The civic education programmes outreached to 560,000 citizens directly. - Regarding citizens’ awareness of Human Rights, the trend shows that many women were reached with human rights messages as opposed to men. - There was improved synergy among partners involved in conflict prevention, management and resolution in addressing prevalent conflicts through the implementation of Kenya’s new National Peace Architecture (NPA) and the establishment of more than 200 functioning District Peace Committees (DPC’S) across the country as stated by the Uwaino Platform for Peace’s independent Consultants Monitoring and Evaluation report (2013). - The Citizen Feedback Initiative “Huduma” by the United Nations Millennium Challenge is currently being piloted in several counties with the aim of drawing lessons to inform national level scale up. The initiative is focused on service delivery in four key sectors: health, education, water, and infrastructure. - The mandate and mission of Kenya National Commission for Human Rights (KNCHR), National Gender and Equality Commission (NGEC) and Commission for Administrative Justice (CAJ) is more widely acknowledged and increasingly understood by the general public.
