General question: Results related to the intended outcome 2015Question: Summarise results related to the intended outcome (this information will be sent to Open Aid)Answer: The intended outcome of UNDP Productive Families Economic Empowerment Programme - Women Empowerment (DEEP - WE) is that "targeted Palestinian women entrepreneurs belonging to low income families from Gaza, Area C and East Jerusalem can access needed financial and technical resources to start their businesses, and adopt positive and sustainable livelihoods strategies". The programme aimed to support women coming from low income families in adopting positive and sustainable livelihoods strategies, through providing them with business development services, technical support and relevant finance schemes to establish or develop their own businesses/projects. Overall, the programme generated positive social and economic impacts for the beneficiaries and managed to meet the targets of most indicators. Main achievements include: - 818 poor women entrepreneurs received financial grants and established their businesses in the West Bank (Area C), East Jerusalem, and the Gaza Strip (527 businesses in the West Bank, 190 in the Gaza Strip and 101 businesses in East Jerusalem). These come from 107 communities all over Palestine (82 different localities / village councils distributed in 8 governorates in the West Bank, 6 neighbourhoods in East Jerusalem and 19 communities in the Gaza Strip). - Given the programme was co-funded by the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB), additional 146 women families (79 in the West Bank, 55 in the Gaza Strip, and 12 in East Jerusalem) received micro loans to establish their start-ups from IsDB allocation. - The livelihoods of some 5,269 family members were improved through UNDP’s DEEP Women Entrepreneurs programme interventions, and the majority of these are located in West Bank (Area C).
