CRDP has mobilized more than USD 31 million towards addressing the challenges and development needs of Area C and East Jerusalem communities, during six rounds of funding between the period September 2012 to December 2019 in different sectoral areas of interventions. The activities have been implemented by a wide array of partners, including local communities, grassroots organisations, local and international NGOs and Local Government Units based on their respective merits, and according to needs of communities. Some of the main results achieved include: - A total of 142,134 Palestinians (75% females) benefited from CRDP's muti-sectoral interventions (130 projects) in Area C and East Jerusalem. - 92% of beneficiaries from 130 communities expressed satisfaction from social and public infrastructure built with the support of CRDP. - CRDP provided 31,374 students (55% females) with better access to quality education in Area C and EJ, including seam zones, through improving schools' services and rehabilitating facilities and educational units, conducting professional development programmes to teachers, providing scholarships to students and refurbishing libraries and cultural centres. - CRDP provided 13,323 Palestinians (45% females) with better access to improved housing conditions in EJ through the creation/identification of 3000 housing opportunities in 10 open spaces, rehabilitating residential structures, creating or refurbishing public open spaces, conducting housing research and educating people on housing rights. - CRDP imporoved the access of 22,000 Palestinians (52% females) to primary health services through subsidizing treatments for uninsured and marginalized people, rehabilitating health clinics and providing mobile health clinics. - CRDP improved the access of 2,326 Palestinian Bedouins (40% females) living in Bedouin communities in Area C to renewable energy and power through the installation of 250 solar system units. - CRDP improved the access for 31,510 Palestinians living in Area C to water and agricultural lands, through land reclamation (6,827 dunums reclaimed), rehabilitation of agricultural roads (57.4 km of agricultural roads restored), rehabilitation of cisterns, water wells and springs and construction of water networks, which all contributed to the protection of land in threatened areas. - CRDP benefited 3,895 Palestinians (68% females) with economic empowerment activities targeting 579 start ups and small businesses (68% women-run businesses) and providing internship and employment opportunities for youth in Area C and EJ. - CRDP provided access to 15,191 Palestinians to legal aid services and to campaigns promoting human rights, advocacy, community participation and mobilization. - 5,600 Palestinians participated in the enhancement of the tourism sector and the promotion of East Jerusalem (Al-Quds) as a tourism destination. - Women involvement in the CRDP projects’ implementation has created strong and effective women committees in Area C communities. Members of women forums in both Qalqiliya and Tubas clusters for example have been trained on how to assess their community needs, how to fundraise for their own interventions, and how to be part of a decision making process. - The Area C Coordination Office - ACCO (now called Area C Coordination Team - ACCT under the Office of the Prime Minister) was established under CRDP in mid 2016 to support the development of coordinated and effective development action in Area C.
The overall goal of the Community Resilience and Development Programme (CRDP) is to empower local stakeholders and Palestinians living in Area C and East Jerusalem (EJ), through the most appropriate partners, to respond with resilience to threats that affect their sustenance on the land. This included three specific objectives: 1. To prevent the erosion of living conditions of Palestinians in Area C and EJ,2. To protect Palestinian land and property in Area C and EJ,3. To mitigate and ideally reverse migration flows from Area C and EJ. This UNDP-managed and multi donor-funded programme was developed to facilitate the critical transition from humanitarian to development assistance in the communities of Area C and EJ through larger, sectorial and geographically-integrated investments.
