Result
Outcome 1 - Improved management of decentralized forests in Kosovo Capacity development of 200 officials of municipalities, Kosovo Forestry Agency and beneficiaries on Joint Forest Management are trained; Capacity development of 582 Forest Family owners on JFM are trained; 1316 Forest Families are informed on JFM 35 beneficiary families have harvested and used the wood mass of 200 m3 to meet the needs of their families with firewood through JFM practices. Outcome 2 - Improved management of private forests in Kosovo National Association of Private Forestry Owners (NAPFO) and Association of Private Forestry Owners (APFO) have provided service delivery to their members: trainings on forest management plans, silvicultural work, fire protection, use of motor chain and safety measures NAPFO membership has been increased in total 10,800 members within 25 APFOs, where 20% of them are women; Technical skills and capacity development of vulnarble women and youth are development; Increased production of Non-Timber Forest Products (NTFP) and value chain has indicated on additional jobs creation (permanent and seasonal), averagely each beneficiary has increased income for 400 Euro annually and generated 0.7 permanent jobs and 0.7 temporary jobs Addendum project result achieved: Women and Youth Producers Groups (WYPG) have improved skills of cultivation of MAPs and increase cultivation surface areas with MAP; Strengthening of network between members of the APFO, rural women farmers and existing market actors i.e. collection point, processors and exporters for MAPs/NTFP; Outcome 3 - Increased application of biomass production for climate change mitigation Promotion of wood biomass production from proper treatment of degraded forestry, use of wood waste and supplying two schools in Hani I Elezit with 100 m3 of wood cheeps; Promotion of chestnuts degraded forest revitalization are promoted Addendum project result achieved: Promotion of application of new technologies of cultivation of chestnuts orchards; Finalization of two more (2) case studies for Biomass District Heating Systems (DH) for municipalities were developed for the municipality of Junik and Hani Elezit; Monitoring Report about carbon sequestration and biomass growth from 130 pilot plots are finalized During 2020, two filed visits where conducted, one of which with Embassy collagues.
Improved management of decentralized forests, which includes: Increased capacities of municipalities and forestry administration; Support adapted legal framework and strategy of forestry in decentralized forest management; and Joint forest management and practices supported. Improved management of private forests in Kosovo, which includes: Improved structure and functioning of National Associations of Private Forest Owners (NAPFO) and Associations of Private Forest Owners (APFO); Increased capacity and service delivery of associations; Increased capacities of women and youth in sustainable forest management and forest product value chains; and Inclusion of private forestry in forestry and rural development policies, programmes and legislation (including subsidy schemes). Increased application of renewable energy from wood biomass addressing environmental services and income generation, which includes: Capacity strengthened related to wood biomass for renewable energy; Good practise and innovative approaches developed for wood biomass and non-wood forest products (NWFPs) in agro-forestry and rehabilitation of degraded forests; and carbon sequestration (CS) assessed through measurements in different silvi-cultural models.
