The project has started the implementation on early 2015 and foreseen to end in December 2017. Delays in the realisation of activities planned due to change in the INSTAT management and reorganization of the institution have required an extension of the project timeframe. The project was designed to assist INSTAT in rehabilitating the IT infrastructure and was mainly focussed on investments and procurement of goods and some services. The intervention aims to complement the long-term support of Sida to Albanian statistical system in capacity building and expertise. In general, the results of the project have been achieved, the planned ones but also the new results endorsed during the project implementation as a necessity of INSTAT. More specifically the key results are: - A new network is installed at INSTAT increasing the number of working posts and improving the internal communication;- Data center installed replacing the outdated servers and increasing the capacity and speed of the INSTAT system for data storage and elaboration.- new hardware for INSTAT staff that increase the efficiency of their works and the working facilities;- new training center for INSTAT to ensure in house training opportunities as well as training of other users of statistics.- new security system in place for the institution. The project was implemented under a direct funding modality, where INSTAT has the sole responsibility for the intervention. Some other indirect results to the intervention but with impact to the INSTAT institutional building are also:- raising of the capacities of INSTAT staff to implement on their own the donor projects- Raising of capacities in conducting procurement- Complement the ongoing support on technical expertise with the new infrastructure and technology that provides a thorough support to Albanian statistical system in conducting their mandate and be able to follow the EU requirements on reporting qualitative statistics.
