This intervention aims to reduce poverty and violence on indigenous people, particularly Mayan women in four territories of Guatemala, promoting Women´s Economic Empowerment, through strengthening their capacities on productive technical matters and entrepreneurship; strengthening the peasant organizations capacities to ensure their response to their members to reduce poverty and strengthening advocacy work. The project also aims to improve market access and position of rural Mayan women within a framework of organizational strengthening and deepening knowledge of rights and demands for rights compliance, recognizing that economic empowerment ensures sustainable individual, collective and political empowerment.

Result
Overall Objective: To contribute to the State and other actors assuming their responsibility in reducing poverty and violence for rights holders, especially Mayan women, in the following regions: 145 communities in 7 departments of the country (Alta Verapaz, Baja Verapaz, Sololá, Huehuetenango, Quiché, Chimaltenango and Quetzaltenango). Specific Objectives: -To increase rural Mayan women's comprehensive economic empowerment from a human rights approach -To increase the partner organizations capacities in order to influence and negotiate with the state, the private sector, peasant and indigenous movement, on behalf of rural Mayan women who are rights holders.
