The second phase of the JIAF project from (September 2021 August 2022) continued during Period 6. The following achievements/results could be noted during Period 6 (April 2022 March 2023): Development of the first iteration of JIAF 2.0 was completed during the period (September 2022) with four multipartner sprint teams, taking the lead on specific methodology components. The outcomes of this work were reported to the Methodology Working Group and the Advisory Working Group. Two intersprint meetings took place in July and August 2022, to bring the different workstreams together in one JIAF 2.0 methodology. The testing strategy for the methodology was approved by the Joint Advisory Group at the MidYear Review meeting in May 2022 and implemented in full during the period. This included remote testing, one simulation and four country pilots (Colombia, Niger, Somalia and South Sudan). Key challenges around comparability and transparency were overcome, with comparability becoming a guiding star in the severity reference tables that were developed and transparency facilitated by the development of a common online analysis platform. An adequate capacity building package was developed by the PMU with broad buyin from all stakeholders.
IOM works to help ensure the orderly and humane management of migration, to promote international cooperation on migration issues, to assist in the search for practical solutions to migration problems and to provide humanitarian assistance to migrants in need, including refugees and internally displaced people. The IOM constitution recognises the link between migration and economic, social and cultural development, as well as to the right of freedom of movement. The reason for this amendment (9) is to support a second phase of the JIAF project, which aims at improving quality and efficiency of the humanitarian system. The specific objective of the JIAF is to enable the analysis of the various dimensions of a crisis (context, impact and humanitarian conditions) and its underlying factors, as well as the resulting effects on people’s lives and livelihoods combining multiple sectors and their interactions.
