The consultants have delivered according to contract.A "handbook" (Commercialization of ideas and Intellectual Property with a focus on Patents enclosed) has been written and delivered. The handbook may serve as guidelines to joint university-private sector co-operations in Bolivia. The handbook was presented at two different IP-seminars held by Dr Fredrik Carlsson from Ström & Gulliksson on December 4, 2017 in Cochabamba and on December 6, 2017 in La Paz with 30-40 participants and one in Cochabamba with 60-70 participants. The IP-seminars focused on the process for commercializing IP and then an overview on intellectual property rights was given with patents as an important point. At both seminars, the attendants were mainly students and researchers from the university. In addition, representatives from the Swedish Embassy and SIDA as well as the patent office in Bolivia (SENAPI) also attended the seminars.A complete international application covering the generalized invention as well as specific embodiments thereof (which are not covered by the previously filed applications) was drafted. In order to support the drafting process, patent databases were searched and a report listing patents and patent application relating to methods and products similar to the ones disclosed in the filed international application PCT/SE2017/050790 was provided. In total 644 documents were briefly analyzed, of which 25 were chosen for deeper analysis. The international application (the second PCT-application) was filed on February 1, 2018 as PCT/EP2018/052512 with the European Patent Office as the receiving office (RO) and international searching authority (ISA).Further, the second PCT-application was translated into Spanish and a corresponding Bolivian application (Bolivia is not contracting state to the PCT) claiming the priority of the second PCT-application was filed on the same day, i.e. February 1, 2018.Applications1 for registering the trademark "Quiny" have been filed in the European Union, Brazil, Bolivia and Chile.Swebol has proven to be a good example of results from research collaboration beyon the actual research collaboration. The contribution has been a learning experience for all parties. As the consultancy firm was new to cooperation and the different requirements and of Sida and Sida/The Embassy is new to this kind of collaboration it has been in times difficult to understand each other and fully communicate what is expected of the different parties. The interest in the products from the study (handbok and seminars) has been large and the contribution has fulfilled the ambition of providing a case of how to move outside the University world to the market.
