Projektdokument förnybar energi i sydöstra Liberia

The contribution was prepared and decided in old Trac. The embassy procured a consultant who assisted RREA (Rural Renewable Energy Agency) to prepare a Programme Document for increased access to renewable energy in south east Liberia. The PD focuses on involving the private sector to co-invest in the building, production and expansion of electricity services in the distribution networks in south east Liberia. The PD encompasses the latest development in the energy sector and has been developed in accordance with the Swedish development policies. In parallell the embassy procured another consultant who assisted the MPW (Ministry of Public Works) to prepare a Programme Document for access roads that intend to increase the interest of the private sector electricity service providers to participate in the market. It is believed that roads will lower the investment costs for building and maintaining renewable energy micro-utilities and distribution networks and will contribute to stimulate economic growth. Through a consultancy contract with Economic Consultancy Associates Limited, a comprehensive program document was developed. It highlights the overall objectives of the intervention as stimulating socio-economic development in south-east Liberia and improving the living conditions of rural populations. The program document also gives an overview of Liberia’s energy sector, a proposed implementation strategy, synopsis of energy related legislations, and renewable energy potential in Liberia.
