Introduction The Swedish Red Cross (SRC) has been a strategic partner for the Humanitarian Unit at Sida since 2014 and began a partner to the Swedish Embassy in Liberia in 2017. SRC deployed full time organization delegate to Liberia to build a sustainable Liberian National Red Cross Society for community resilience in developing active and well-functioning branches and chapters in selected counties. The programme manager is responsible for administrative and financial tasks as well as monitoring, report writing and coordination with SRC and the Movement. Additional technical support will be provided by SRC as needed. The Embassy of Sweden and the Swedish Red Cross signed a three-year agreement in 2019 to build a sustainable Liberia National Red Cross. The project was delay due to covid 19 pandemic and a seven-month non-cost extension was approved for December 2023. Two results achieved Outcome 2. LNRCS' volunteers are well organized and supported and have the knowledge and skills needed to support and implement community-based activities In one of the counties, Sinoe where the SRC\LNRCS intervention is ongoing, the Greenville chapter has about 93 volunteers from diverse backgrounds including nurses, mechanics, teachers, students, etc. The volunteers are well organized into communities and sub committees to address issues ranging from cleaning environment to organizing teaching and farming activities. It is interesting that People Living With Disability are actively involved in the volunteers activities of the LNRCS. The volunteers are resources that LNRCS can utilize for the implement of any project which require awareness and education for community on resilience and climate change. Many young people are willing to join the volunteers as they claimed that the LNRCS is here to stay as compared to other NGOs that are projected oriented and leaves after said project ended. Outcome 4: Increased financial sustainability of LNRCS enabling core costs to be covered and own activities to be undertaken The program has begun the implementation of it resource mobilization strategy to sustain its chapter by the rental of it conference room for workshops and seminars and an office space. Specifically in Greenville, Sinoe county, the chapter as part of its strategy for resource mobilization installed solar power at the premises to make cold water and sell which generate income a month. All three LNRCS counties chapters facilities are power by solar therefore contribution to GHG reduction and climate change.
