IJR, Core Support, 2022 - 2025

The achievement made for 2023 focused on IJRs three main Programmes: The Research and Policy, Sustained Dialogues, and Peacebuilding Interventions Programmes. Under Sustained Dialogues Programme: - The Sustained Dialogues Programme, amplifying community voices, gave voice to the lived experiences of young colored people in Bergsig, highlighting the positive contributions they are making for justice and reconciliation. It also gave young people in the Western Cape the opportunity to learn different types of media to express themselves resulting in greater skills and 4 podcasts being created to make their voices heard. The project has successfully transitioned out of certain areas where they can now sustain themselves and have begun operations in new areas. The proven methodology used in the program is effective, and there are plans to document and disseminate it more widely to replicate its success in the broader South African context and beyond. Overall, the projects are having a very real impact in the communities at an individual and community levels that is assessed by participants reports of feeling more dignified, heard, validated, self-confident and empowered to take initiatives on their own. The Research and Policy: - SARB: the Dissemination of 2023 results and Public access to latest datasets (SARB is unique in that it is Longest-running survey of its kind in the world and SARB data is used in different parts of government and by different government departments.): AB: all R9 surveys, new country partner assessments, and rebidding processes completed. D4GA: Fielding 3 regional stakeholder training workshops in Accra, Cape Town and Nairobi and Establishing the project profile in its first full year of implementation. SLB: Public launch of R2 and tracking surveys with endorsements from the Sri Lanka Department of Justice, EU Delegation, as well as German and South African embassies. Peacebuilding Interventions Programmes:- conducted successful Field Research in Mozambique, Kenya, Nigeria, Mozambique and Kenya - violent extremism through transitional justice and peacebuilding. It build the Capacity of 20 CSO in the Horn of Africa ( from Ethiopia, Somalia, South Sudan, Somalia, Kenya).

The IJR works with the broad goal to build of societies that are fair, inclusive, democratic, and peaceful - in contexts that are currently afflicted by conflict or where societies continue to grapple with the historical legacy of such conflicts. IJR works with five key outcome areas including: - Participants have the capacity to use contextually appropriate transitional justice mechanisms - Participants are motivated to enable fairness, inclusivity, and peace - Participants take actions that lead to sustained peace, justice, and reconciliation - Communities are more resilient, reconciled and socially cohesive - Systems and policies enable the realisation of fair, inclusive, democratic, and peaceful societies IJR will work on five thematic areas that focuses on social cohesion, inclusion, and anti-racism; advancing human dignity and bottom-up reconciliation; survivor-centred transitional justice and reconciliation; socio-economic justice and inclusive development; and cross-border dialogue and regional reconciliation.
