Resultat
The results are following up the same flow of objectives (what KTO wants to achieve). According to 2023 annual narrative report, the following were recorded. KTO 2023 annual report, measures its performance against it three set focus areas; 1. Focus Area 1: Revamping FDCs as Centres for Training, Innovation, and Community Engagement 2. Focus Area 2: Enhancing Gender Equality, Lifelong Learning and Human Development Through FDCs 3. Focus Area 3: Partnering in Folk and Adult Education Nationally and Internationally for Attainment of Agenda 2030 Revamping FDCs as Centres for Training, Innovation, and Community Engagement; During this reporting period, KTO strengthened its internal capacity and FDCs on Adult Learning and Education System Building Approach (ALESBA) with an intention to strengthen KTO internal capacity in adult Learning and Education System Building Approach (ALESBA), two KTO staff (Head of Programs and Partner Collaboration and the Monitoring and Evaluation Manager) participated. The training intended to enable participants gain first-hand knowledge and practical experience (through various assignments and engagements) in adult education systems building. It is also reported that, decision by TVET to pay directly for participants national examinations is a great achievement from government side. This is a decision that was taken by TVET after KTO engaged with MoEST on the challenges FDCs faced in paying for participants from their internal sources after when they were refunded by TVET, an approach that negatively impacted recruitment especially with FDCs which had limited internal funding base. This decision, is expected to boost recruitment and FDCs readiness for implementation of the programme. Through various engagements and interventions, the FDC concept has been strengthened in the country. KTO has maintained its communication with the Ministry of Education and Vocational Training in Zanzibar to seek collaboration with the Ministry in the implementation of programs and further folk and adult education philosophy in Zanzibar. KTO is in the final stages of establishing its office in Zanzibar as required by laws of Zanzibar. Enhancing Gender Equality, Lifelong Learning and Human Development Through FDCsContribution to the National Girls Education; KTO has continued to be part of the National Girls education Caucus. The forum is composed of various organizations, including CAMFED, KTO, UMATI, FAWE TZ, Haki Elimu, TGNP Mtandao, TAMWA, LHRC, Child Support Tanzania, CDF and Msichana Initiative. The education caucus was established to advocate for reentry policy for a girl child but has been maintained to promote gender related issues in education. With the aim of strengthening SRHR education in the Elimu Haina Mwisho program, KTO developed SRHR component into the life skills curriculum. Further, training guide for the same was developed and approved by TVET for use in FDCs. To make its use effective, 216 personnel (Principals, training coordinators, Life skills teachers, nurses and EHM coordinators) from 54 FDCs were oriented to the curriculum and training guide aiming at capacitating them to deliver it to participants in FDCs. According to the feedback from FDCs, all participants men and women are in need of SRHR education and thus Calling for the need to expand the SRHR training to other FDC participants. KTO was part of delivering on Sweden 60 years anniversary. KTO was appointed a steering committee member for preparation of two events in Celebrating the 60 Years of Impactful Cooperation between Tanzania and Sweden. In August 2023, KTO collaborated with the Swedish embassy in Dar es Salaam to organize an exciting football match at the Nordic school in Dar es Salaam. This event brought together the energetic young players from Uhuru Primary School's girls' football team, associated with KTO, and students from the Nordic school. More than just a sports event, it served as a celebration of partnership and camaraderie, where families, parents, and local communities came together to support the young athletes, fostering unity through the universal language of football. KTO also continued to strengthen the fight against sextortion. It has continued with working with PCCB during trainings to provide awareness to FDCs while engaging in local and international initiatives to fight against the vice. As part of its international engagement, KTO continues with its communication with the Upsalla University for knowledge sharing and research on Sextortion which is scheduled to be conducted in 2024 in Tanzania. It has further participated in the international conference with the theme of ending sex for education, fees, grades and first jobs. The conference was held at Wilton Park in the UK with over 40 participants from different countries around the world representing the governments, NGO, Development partners and the academia. Partnering in Folk and Adult Education Nationally and Internationally for Attainment of Agenda 2030. It is reported that, in collaboration with MoEST/TVET, KTO facilitated development of curricular and modules for Plumbing, Information Technology (IT) and Welding trades for FDCs. A group of experts and Technicians from FDC, in consultation with FDCs and TVET, developed the documents which were later reviewed and approved by TVET for use in training. Development of these documents culminates the initiative that KTO took since 2021 in developing guidelines and modules for the other seven trades taught in FDCs. These resources are instrumental in enhancing teaching and learning processes for EHM participants. KTO has been implemented the Grassroot football for Primary school girls program intends to support, promote and develop girls football as a way to achieve gender equality and socio-economic empowerment, increase girls self-esteem and self-confidence, and create quality, skilled female footballers from the grassroots. In this reporting period, KTO mainstream Child protection in the program in which football is used as a platform for awareness creation, bridging the gaps and creating confidence. The program focuses on developing a robust and sustainable infrastructure to support, promote and develop football for girls and women while enhancing child protection in Tanzania. KTO continued to strengthen partners engagement for effective implementation and sustainability of the program. One among engagement activities conducted during this reporting period was a meeting, involving representatives from various entities including the National Sports Council under the Ministry of Culture, Arts, and Sports (MoCAS), the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology (MoEST), the Presidents Office Regional Administration and Local Government (PO-RALG), the Tanzania Football Federation (TFF), and District Sports Officers from the seven zones. At this gathering, UEFA Foundation presented KTO with 394 footballs, which were distributed to all primary schools participating in the Mpira Fursa program. KTO collaborated with ECD partners, expanded Access to Early Childhood Development (ECD) training through FDCs is a program implemented in partnership with 10 FDCs, MoCDGWSG, and MoEST. The program was developed to address the need for FDCs to offer quality daycare services to the children of young women enrolled in FDCs under the EHM program. It operates in 10 FDCs (Karumo, Katumba, Kibondo, Malya, Masasi, Mbinga, Mto wa Mbu, Newala, Sengerema, and Singida), where participants undergo a one-year course certified by the Commissioner of Social Work. This certification allows them to be employed as accredited childcare workers in daycare centers or to establish their own daycare facilities. The objective is to enhance access to ECD training opportunities through these ten FDCs, where participants undergo one-year certificate training. Upon completing the course, participants have the option to be employed by the FDCs, private and public daycare centers, or to establish their own centers and contribute to the development of daycare services in FDCs.
KTO's overall strategic objective is to contribute to the socio-economic advancement of the Tanzanian society through FDCs, as a way to ensure progressive communities, democratic practices, citizen engagement, gender equality and sustainable development. To operationalise the strategic objective, three strategic focus areas have been selected: 1) revamping FDCs as centers for training, innovation and platforms for citizen engagement; 2) enhancing gender equality, lifelong learning and human development through FDCs; 3) partnering in folk and adult education nationally and internationally for attainment of Agenda 2030. The overall objective will be reached by implementing three main programmes, policy formulation and lobbying in collaboration with 54 FDCs located in rural settings in Tanzania. The strategic plan is expected to lead to creating vibrant FDC's, functioning as alternative education pathways while promoting community engagement for sustainable development. KTO will also focus its work on strengthening young women's rights and opportunities, gender equality, environment and climate, innovation and sexual and reproductive health and rights in training.
