During the first semester of 2023, the project has been subject to reduction of the annual budget from 12 to 7 million SEK (42% reduction), which affected thework plan. In this context, adjustments have been made including the number of people hired for field activities, carrying out a reorganization and adjustment, prioritizing key activities. However and despite this reduction important results have been achieved. In result 1, The Strategy for prevention, control and combat against forest fires and post event for management 2023, which additionally contains the 2022 results report and the 2022 National Burning Map has been concluded. On the other hand, the Financial Mechanism Revolving Fund with the purpose of promoting the marketing of Asaí pulp by Asai Pando´s Federation "FEDAFAP" to the Government entity EBA, promoting the consumption of fruits from the Amazon forest has been designed. Regarding Result 2, 3 different methodologies have been designed and implemented, given rise and validity to 3 agroforestry models "SAF" in Spanish. The three different promoted SAF are: a) combined SAF Model, which records fruit, timber species and conservation agriculture b) SAF Windbreaker model, whose perimeter is made up of timber species, protecting fruit species and the conservation agriculture c) SAF Model for Recovery of degraded soils with fruit and forest species Concerning Result 3, a baseline of at least 175 communities that have territorial management instruments (PGIBT and PGMF) has been built and consolidated. Once identified, it is planned to develop, readjust, socialize and implement management strategies and instruments for the sustainable use of the forest , considering the multidimensional analysis of poverty, women participation, respecting local and technical knowledge for better management of their territory. It is expected to contribute to the NDC and NDT Strategy of the Plurinational State of Bolivia. Additionally, value chain analysis and an initial diagnosis to identify 15 producer associations have been carried out (AFAI, ASICOPTA, ARTPFAT, AFIPA, ASINEFAR, AIPROTCA, AAICAM, APCAIA, MINGA, APCAJA, Carmen Pecha, Santa Rosa, El Porvenir, MINGA and FEDAFAP), with the purpose of providing training and technical assistance for Forest Management and the development of good practices (productive, financial, technological, governance and marketing), to generate impact in the value chain of the Chiquitana Almond, the Asaí fruit and Chestnut, among other native fruits. Finally, in result 4 with the identification of communities, municipalities and entities from public and private sector, the communication strategy for the Amazon and Chiquitania has been optimized. Alliances have been built to enhance the implementation of actions on information transfer issues and capabilities. Among the partners it can be mentioned Fe y Alegría Radio Institute Network (IRFA) in the region Chiquitana and the Pando departmental network of communicators for the Amazon region. With these partnerships, it is intended to generate and disseminate content related to climate change, sustainable forestry management, food security and prevention of gender violence among others.
The main objective of the project "Conservation of the Amazonian and Chiquitano ecosystems through the strengthening of livelihoods and sustainable, inclusive and resilient agri-food systems to climate change" is to strengthen the agri-food systems and livelihoods of rural native indigenous communities, based on the use and comprehensive management of natural resources and environmental functions in a context of adaptation and mitigation of climate change, reduction of poverty and food insecurity. To achieve this task, 4 components have been established: -Component 1: Public policies for the comprehensive management of forests, water and soil strengthened in indigenous and peasant communities - Component 2: Strategies and technologies for adaptation and mitigation to climate change implemented in Chiquitano and Amazonian forests in coordination with communities, subnational governments and the national government - Component 3: Strengthened livelihoods and community productive enterprises implemented under comprehensive forest management with a climate change and gender approach - Component 4 Strategies for knowledge management and communication for development with a gender and climate change approach implemented and monitored in the impacts of the project The main beneficiaries are expected to be: -National Government (4 Ministries) -National Authorities (3 National Authorities) -2 Departmental Government -16 municipalities -150 Communities -15 Social Organizations -30 Productive Associations -12,000Households (around 51,600 people) At the end of intervention, it is expected that: -17,500 smallholders and 150 indigenous communities have received technical assistance in resilient agriculture practices and comprehensive forest management with a focus on adaptation and mitigation to climate change for the preservation of forest ecosystems, their environmental functions and biodiversity. -At least 5 value chains (honey, açaí, chiquitana almonds, chestnuts and fishing) that integrate indigenous and peasant communities have been strengthened and are developed under non-consumptive use practices and free of deforestation, boosting local economies. -5,250 indigenous/peasant women have developed capacities and improved the conditions that contribute to their economic empowerment - productive and resilient, of which 2,000 have access to public and/or private services (technology, financial services, markets and inputs, as well as prevention gender violence, among others). -200,000 hectares of forests and forest lands under comprehensive management contribute to the conservation of biodiversity and the fixation and capture of carbon in 1,000,000 MT, as well as hydrological regulation, organic matter in soils, among others.
