Resultat
During the period under review, the following results were achieved. The Inception Phase - An inception phase of the GIRL project was conducted from January 2023June 2023 that resulted in the recruitment of the relevant staff, the placement of the DRR staff of the Swedish Red Cross for the provision of technical support to the LNRCS. - Enhanced Vulnerability and Capacity Assessment (EVCA) and Green Response training of trainers (ToT) training which paved the way for a comprehensive assessment in 12 target communities for the implementation of the project. - The EVCA and Neat assessment process led to the development of 12 community action plans (1 per community) based on 3 priority challenges identified by the communities. The findings from the inception phase of the project identified these major challenges from the communities: "Low food yield due to climate change effects" "Insufficient safe drinking water and poor sanitation" "Frequent outbreaks of diseases, eg: malaria, diarrhea and running stomach" - LNRCS Signed agreement with the 12 communities for the promotion of the project clarifying role and responsibilities of each party.
The overall objective of Green, Inclusive and Resilient Liberian Communities (GIRL) Project is to strengthened resilience of women and men of all ages, to climate change in targeted vulnerable communities underpinned two outcomes: 1. Disaster Risks Reduction and climate change adaption: increased capacity of women, men, girls and boys in the targeted communities to address the risks of climate change and natural hazards. 2. Health Risks: Increased knowledge and behaviour change of women, men, girl, and boys in targeted communities to address health risks exacerbated by climate change.
