Some country specific results: Yemen: The Fund in 2017 reached US$ 176 million contributions by 19 donors and allocated US$ 126 million for 111 lifesaving interventions across the country. The Humanitarian Fund flexibility had provided the HC with the possibility of launching famine prevention projects as soon as a risk of famine was identified in 95 districts in Yemen. At least 241,340 people benefited from food security projects. Peolpe were also reached by health intervention for responding to the cholera outbreak as well as nutrition for children under five years old. SydSudan: The CBPF promoted an effective response to priority humanitarian needs by allocating 61.8 million US to 67 humanitarian partners (national NGOs, international NGOs and United Nations agencies), to support the implementation of 186 projects and reached 1,6 million people. For exampel, funding was allocated to health (16 per cent), protection (14.2 per cent), WASH (14.2 per cent), ES/NFI (12.5 per cent), Food security (10.7 per cent), and nutrition (10.7 per cent). It also provided funding to common services to support the transportation of aid workers and supplies to hard-to-reach areas during the rainy season. CAR: The CHF reached almost 1 million people with 22 million US. Main areas of priority were WASH and Shelter projects. Given the increased number of IDPs registered in the course of 2017, interventions carried out under these clusters focused mainly at improving living conditions of IDPs and vulnerable host families not forgetting the returnees in "hotspot" areas such as Bambari, Bria, Grimari, Ippy, Bangui, and others by offering a package of response that includes shelters, NFI, food security, WASH as well as protection assistance.
The outcomes of the CBPFs are to: A) Improve effectiveness of the humanitarian response by directing funding towards priority humanitarian needs. Priority needs are identified through an inclusive and participatory process, which includes national actors (e.g. NGOs). B) Strengthen the leadership of the HC, while leveraging his/her humanitarian coordination role. C) Mobilize resources and support coordination in support of the humanitarian planning framework (HRP/HPC). These outcomes lead to the overall operational impact of CBPFs, i.e., the provision of timely, coordinated, principled assistance to save lives, alleviate suffering and maintain human dignity.
