General question: Results related to the intended outcome 2014Question: Summarise results related to the intended outcome (this information will be sent to Open Aid)Answer: Examples of achievements to date include: • 18 Policy advices/briefs on selected key fisheries and aquaculture issues have been developed that will be presented at the Conference of African Ministers for Fisheries and Aquaculture (CAMFA II) meeting in March 2014. • Together with AU-IBAR, NFFP has lead the work of developing a Pan-African Fisheries Policy Framework and Reform Strategy that will be presented and endorsed at CAMFA II. The main objective of the Strategy is to provide a framework for the improvements in the availability and quality of national and regional data to support fisheries management, aquaculture development and policy development in Africa. • A study on the estimation of the value of African fisheries has been carried out in collaboration with three Regional Fisheries Bodies and 23 countries. Preliminary results show that fisheries and aquaculture (excluding the processing sector) contribute to around 5% of the African agricultural GDP and employs around 19 million persons. • A study on the links and relationships between Regional Fisheries Bodies and Regional Economic Communities, to serve as a baseline for future work, has been finalised. • Capacity among RECs and RFOs on key fisheries issues have been built through a number of trainings and workshops. • A gap analysis of who does what and where in areas relating to climate change adaptation and disaster risk management in relation to fisheries and aquaculture has been conducted in west and central, and southern and eastern Africa respectively including 47 countries.
