Resultat
Clean Up Georgia phase III project targeted groups (Local authorities, line Ministries, Communal services, CSOs, local population, media, initiative groups, women, vulnerable groups, etc.) have received significant mechanisms/schemes for further improvement of existing situation on sustainable waste management at national and local level; Population of Georgia have been mobilized around the waste issue and real cleanup process took place in the country decreasing pollution by 20%. General public have been prevented from hazard created by HW (chemicals/chlorine); Public awareness has been raised; women benefited from minimization of domestic waste. The Georgia population 70% has been informed about best practice of waste management, Waste Management Code requirements and Georgia EU Association Agreement statements in the context of waste management sector and habitats assessment; High level of public awareness on waste management issues and relevant consequences of remaining waste to human health and strengthening capacity of local government representatives conducted.
The overall goal of the project Clean Up Georgia Phase III is to improve environment and reduce climate change impact through challenging of waste management and enhancing population responsibility in Georgia. Specific objectives of teh contribution are the following: 1. Enhance environmental responsibility of population on national and local level in Georgia (60 Self governing communities and 12 Self Governing Cities) to reduce pollution by solid waste through organizing cleanup campaigns, World Clean Up events. 2. Challenge waste management practice and system on national and local level in the country and mainstream environment to increase compliance with Georgia EU Association Agreement requirements on the environmental protection. 3. Enhance environmental responsibility of population, business sector and civil society to reduce pollution by hazardous waste in the country.
