Resultat
SG 1 "Justice systems are more effective and responsive to peoples needs" - In Somalia IDLO enabled the functioning of 15 Alternative Dispute Resolution centers that build on customary and informal justice chanisms involving panels of adjudicators. Over 15 months these ADRs managed some 5433 cases and raised legal awareness of some 5000 IDPs. - In Ukraine, IDLO strengthened the Office of the Prosecutor General for example in running the support coordination center for victims and witnessess of war crimes and other intenrnational crimes, paving the way for more accountability. - IDLO also strengthened anti-corrutpion efforts in Armenia, Moldova, DRC, Mongolia and Ukraine focusing on national action plans/reforms and making justice institutions more transparent, responsive and less prone to conflict of interest. SG 2 "Rule of law drives peace and sustainable development" - In Kenya, IDLO enabled the setting up specialised SGBV courts which serves as a model preparing for a more comprehensice rollout and raised awareness for example in the first national conference on SGBV. - IDLO continued to champion support for LDCs in negotiating and managing international investment agreements with a view to obtaining fair deals and minimize risks for these countries in relation to such agreements. - IDLO continued to advocate and demonstrate for a rule of law approach to climate change and worked with several countries for improved governance of land and natural resources such as Kenya and Rwanda. - In the area of health, IDLO has contributed towards the ongoing negotitions on a WHO convention for pandemic prevention, preparedness and response. Organizational Enablers The Strategic Plan 2021 2024 identified Organizational Enablers to strengthen key aspects of IDLO´s systems, capacities and resources to achieve IDLO´s Strategic Goals and deliver the increase quality and value their partners expect. IDLO developed a Strategic Results and Resources Framework (SRRF) that translates the Strategic Plan into a set of development and organisational results, with the aim of promoting a results culture that enables management of IDLOs work based on performance. Sida has received report based on the previous SRRF dated July 2024 which shows increasing alignment of programs with the framework and it also gives quantitative and qualitative proof of progress towards the stratgic objectives and organisational enablers. A new SRRF in under way, complementing the new strategic plan 2025-2028. Other systems improvements: Sida notes that during 2023, IDLO, has taken steps to strenthen human resoures management, increased automatisation in financial/project management, improving information management and enhanced HQ capacity to support country offices in safety and security. Sida requested and received a briefing on safety and security during a visit to the IDLO HQ in conjunction with the assembly of the parties in November 2024.
IDLO has recently developed a new Strategic Plan (2021-2024) which structures IDLO’s work around two Strategic Goals and six Strategic Objectives based on the commitment to putting people’s needs and human rights at the center of justice systems and making the rule of law a driver of sustainable development. According to IDLO, they strive, through the new strategy, to advance the interdependence and mutually reinforcing connection between human rights, democracy and the rule of law. The first Strategic Goal (Goal 1) seeks to make justice systems more effective and responsive to people’s needs and help protect their human rights. It builds on IDLO’s expertise in legal empowerment and access to justice (Objective 1), institutional strengthening and reforms (Objective 2), and addressing key justice barriers faced by women and girls (Objective 3). The second Strategic Goal (Goal 2) seeks to leverage the contribution of the rule of law and human rights to peace and sustainable development. It aims to promote inclusive economic development (Objective 4), climate justice and sustainable use of natural resources (Objective 5), and healthy lives and well-being for all (Objective 6). IDLO has also identified four organizational Enablers to strengthen key aspects of the operations to achieve the Strategic Goals and deliver high-quality results.
